Enhanced Student Dismissal System

October 11, 2023 New Guyana School

The New Guyana School is introducing an improved dismissal system for our students. This system has been put in place with two essential goals in mind:

  • to streamline the dismissal process and
  • to enhance the safety and well-being of our children.

Key Updates

  • Students will be seated in the Auditorium at Dismissal time, instead of outside near the driveway.
  • When they join the queue, parents will show a unique "Pickup Card" to identify each child they're picking up.
  • Dismissal Attendants will use the "Pickup Card" to electronically notify the students when their parents arrive.
  • Students will start making their way out while the parent is still in the queue. By the time the parent reaches the pickup zone, the students will be already outside.

Rollout Plan

This system will be rolled out in stages, which will allow us to refine the process as it is implemented. See the list below for the intended timeline for each grade to start using the system.

  • Grade 1 - Thursday, October 12, 2023
  • Grade 2 – Monday, October 16, 2023
  • Grade 3 – Wednesday, October 18, 2023
  • Grade 4 – Friday, October 20, 2023
  • Grade 5 – Tuesday, October 24, 2023
  • Grade 6 – Thursday, October 26, 2023

We will notify you of any changes to the timelines.

To make this system work smoothly, we have outlined a simple step-by-step process for you to follow.

Step 1: Obtain Your Unique "Pickup Card"

Please log in to your student portal at portal.newguyanaschool.com and navigate to the "Pickup Card" section. There, you will find your unique "Pickup Card."

To login, you will need your Student ID. This is an 8-digit number found on all of your receipts and invoices from the New Guyana School. For example, 20161234.

If you have any issues, you can watch a video tutorial by clicking here.

Step 2: Submit the Electronic Form

After obtaining your Pickup Card, we kindly request that you sign the acknowledgment form confirming that you have received it.

If you have any issues, you can watch a video tutorial by clicking here.

Step 3: Print or Save the Card

Once you have your Pickup Card, you have the option to either print it out or save it on your phone. Please ensure that you always have it readily available during pickup times.

Step 4: Display the Card to the Dismissal Attendant

Upon arriving at the school for pickup, please display your Pickup Card to the Dismissal Attendant. They will mark your arrival.

If you are picking up multiple children, you will need to display a pickup card for each child.

Step 5: Children Relocated to the Auditorium

Our students will now be seated in the Auditorium during the pickup process. A message will be electronically relayed to them when you arrive and your card is displayed to the Dismissal Attendant.

Step 6: Pickup as Normal

After displaying your Pickup Card and receiving confirmation from the Dismissal Attendant, you may proceed with the pickup of your child as usual.

Step 7: Mark Student as Dismissed

Once you have picked up your child, a Dismissal Attendant will look at your card and mark your child as dismissed. You may then continue on your way home.

Taxis, buses, etc.

If you rely on a taxi or bus to pick up your child, that's totally fine! Just make sure that the driver always has a copy of your child's Pickup Card.

Thanks for your cooperation

We are confident that this new pickup system will lead to a safer and more organized experience for everyone involved. Your cooperation in following the protocol is greatly appreciated. This will help us achieve our objectives of streamlining the dismissal process and enhancing the safety and well-being of our children.

If you encounter any difficulties or have questions about the Pickup Card system, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school administration for assistance.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to New Guyana School. Together, we can make the pickup process smoother and safer for our children.
